Season's Greetings!.. (Lots of) New 'News' From Luke CVR

Hello subsciber's, new and old, I hope this email finds you well. It's Luke CVR here with newsletter number 4. Last time I checked in with you here I was embarking on my 10 week journey to Europe. I am well and truely back now and it's been an incredibly busy period, working at the Cottage which is still as vibrant and as fun as ever! I have been partying a lot still, attending Moniker, Hopkins Creek and the upcoming Meredith 33. All of which have and will be blasts! Absorbing lots of music, applying for master's degrees. You name it I've been doing it.

and while I have been busy, I have still had enough time to organise a number of exciting new things, some yet to be shared, but there are some amazing news I am sharing with you first, exclusively as valued members of the newsletter here at lukecvr.com. I will continue to share news like this, first with you all in email form as a thankyou for commiting to the emails! It's a beautifully organic way to share things away from the monotonising apps. I can share photo's artworks, bios all sorts of fun things here.

Anyways lets kick off with the news shall we..

LUKE CVR presents ~ Tepid Rhythm @ Whitehart Bar, Saturday Dec 20

--------------------

After a long while, the festive season is upon us and it's time for another Tepid Rhythm party. This installment, Tepid Rhythm will perform an institutional waterhole, the open air beer garden bar nestled in deep laneway's of the CBD, Whitehart Bar. A leafy, urban space is a city favourite for after work drinks and get together's and will be the site of our next sonic excursion.

Kicking off the lineup with Kovac! A long stalwart of the scene who has been a resident of some of Melbourne most famed institutions like Xe54 (The old one) and Revolver Upstairs where she still spins monthly. Expect a diverse selection from her long experience of serving great music to dancefloors!

Next is Olypso, a quiet and mostly underground, yet undeniably talented selector. As one of the brain's behind Zeerust, Olypso know's what good music is and how to share it. Many mixes continue to be some of my favourite's to date such as his mix for Strictly Trax and his own mix series HomeEnd. Be sure to catch his warm, lush techy sounds to heat up the temperature.

On closing duties, up-n-comer Ruby Lou will be bringing in the night. As a radio host on Area 3000, she has gone strength to strength, DJing at established clubs like New Guernica and Glamorama and supported a wealth of DJ's like Moopie, Sunshine, Solar Suite and Lex. This is sure to be an excellent talent to watch not just in the future, but also on the 20th of December!

The entire lineup is a fantastic curation of local Naarm selector's, each with a wide range of experience. It's sure to be a levely afternoon before Christmas so make sure you get down to celebrate the festive season!

New writing titled 'Social Media Is Slowly Losing It's Grip On The Underground Community'

--------------------

PhoneCameraStickers

A brand new article that has actually been in the works for over the year. It's subject investigates the relationship between social media and the dance music community in a way which helps justify my position on the mediums. It investigates the few who are starting to shift away from the apps to create better connections between promoters and punters. Give it a read. I'm very proud to finally have the piece out to read.

Recent Mix for Hope Street Radio

--------------------

In October, I was lucky to return once again to Hope Street Radio to perform in their dining room. In what is now becoming an annual occurrence, my HSR themes have often taken on a specific theme or idea and the music becomes less of a mix and more of a journey with an embedded storyline. This year, I was compelled to record probably my most emotional mix to date.

Appalled by the recent wave of anti-immigration rallies that have taken place in Melbourne, I decided to curate a mix in response to these events. Featured in the mix are the words and voices of three Australian women. These women were all born overseas, and each answer prompts related to these events.

The mix is available to listen on Soundcloud. There is also an accompanying text that helps to add some context to the mix. The text also features translations of each of the three women, and a tracklist of the music I performed Live at Hope Street Radio. I highly encourage those interested to digest the mix and the text to enjoy the mix, of which I am very proud of.
